What is a sinus lift?

Some of the roots of your upper teeth extend up into the maxillary sinuses, located in your cheeks and on top of the upper teeth. If these upper teeth are extracted, what remains is only a thin piece of bone separating the sinus and your mouth. If you require a dental implant, you need this bone to hold it in place. When the sinus wall is too thin, an implant cannot be placed.
